Pile Up!

This week is going to be a busy one as I photograph new and existing stock for the New Shop. I am so excited and so far I have listed the birthday cards and father’s day cards! It’s the first time, in my online career, that I have voiced a deadline. I normally scrawl it in my diary and think “I’ll aim for that” but never really do. So I thought, to push myself, I will tell my followers the exact date and time that the shop will launch. No pressure. No biggie.

I also have lots of re-stock orders this week too.. so everything that’s new to the shop will also be available at 5 of my stockists. Everything is all happening at once this month and I absolutely love getting immersed in everything I have to do. Especially the part that my little Niece, Ruby, should be here any day now. x

Crochet Flower Bookmarks!

A popular item at Messyla was always the crochet bookmark. They have evolved so much since I started 2 years ago, that seeing the originals makes me cringe with disgust! I used thick, bold coloured, felt and cut them into flower shapes using curved nail scissors.. Thankfully that is in the past and I am hopeful none of them exist anymore.  However, I love the new style of the bookmarks. They are so dainty and using beautiful french yarn for the flowers. With delicate little pearls in the centre. Perfect for reading, cookery books, your family story book for the children or even your big pile of ugly paperwork on your desk! x

The Card Drawer

Let’s face it. Sometimes in life we need to collect things and store them away for that day when they might be needed. And to not have the said collected thing, when needed, would be embarrassing and quite a nuisance. For most, this involves cards! Collecting/gathering/safe keeping cards for all occasions. My favourite is the blank card! I love to have a collection of blank cards in my drawer for when I need to send a special message to a friend, a belated birthday or just a note to say Hello.

This inspired me to create a random assortment of 5 blank cards. Different colours and styles to suit different occasions, all ready to be nestled into your drawer for safe keeping.x

Pretty Pastel Style

Working with pastels this week has been so lovely and refreshing. It may not be Spring outside, but bringing bright decorations inside certainly makes it feel like a fresh new season has blossomed. I love when things are easy to photograph and the pale pastel colours are perfectly captured!

I think pastels are pretty versatile. They would sit perfectly in a baby’s nursery, in a kitchen to add some colour or draped around a curtain pole in a bedroom! All pastel items are available at the online shop.. let me know what you think of them.xx

What I’m Working On… Recipe cards!

Something I always make for myself is little recipe cards. I have lots of recipes that I have been learning from my Mum and I always want lovely ways to archive them. When making my latest batch for things like Lasagne and Cheese Sauce.. I realised that perhaps someone else would like the style of my recipe cards too! So I made them for the shop and listed them this afternoon..  what do you think? Store in a vintage tin, a little basket or in a kitchen drawer.xxx

Mollie Makes Handmade Wedding

Exciting news! I am so proud to announce that Messyla is featured in a one-off Wedding special for Mollie Makes. I have been waiting patiently to spill these beans for about a month now and thankfully it is time to show you and tell you all about it.

If you have been following my blog for a while now you will know that in August 2012 I designed and created my sister and brother-in-law’s wedding in our country garden. Everything was a little bit vintage and a little bit country with my handmade invites and decorations, vintage china and fresh cut flowers in little tin cans. (+ so much more!).

It was a joyous wedding season and when the opportunity came to show my Messyla Wedding accessories in Mollie Makes, I squealed and jumped around. (for a few weeks.)

I am so thankful to the Mollie Makes team for such a wonderful feature and hope that if you are having a wedding in the future that you will consider Messyla for your handmade, vintage touches!
